Can I see my Woof bookings in Google Calendar?
Settings › Calendar Sync in Woof connects your Google account and makes a calendar for each groomer, kept up to date within about a minute (one way: change bookings in Woof, not Google). Share each calendar with its groomer from Google so it shows on their phone.
Open Settings › Calendar Sync. Only owners and admins can see it, because it connects a Google account.
Connect
- Click Connect Google Calendar.
- Sign in to Google with the account that should hold the calendars, usually the owner's.
- Google asks to let Woof "make secondary Google calendars, and see, create, change, and delete events on them". That is the only calendar permission Woof asks for. Leave the box ticked and continue.
- You are back on Calendar Sync, connected. Woof turns on every groomer with a booking in the next 30 days and starts filling their calendars. A busy groomer's calendar can take a few minutes the first time.
Woof needs your store's time zone to put bookings at the right hour. If it asks, set it in Regional Settings first.
What syncs
- Every booking from 7 days ago to 90 days ahead, on the groomer's own calendar.
- New bookings, moves and cancellations within about a minute. A cancelled booking disappears from Google rather than staying crossed out.
- A change to a groomer's schedule that moves a booking, within 15 minutes.
Boarding and daycare stays have no groomer, so they are not synced.
Show each groomer their calendar
The calendars live in the Google account you connected. To put Maya's calendar on Maya's phone:
- Click Share with Maya next to her name. Google Calendar opens on that calendar's settings.
- Under Share with specific people or groups, add Maya's Google email.
- Choose See all event details and send.
Maya accepts in her Google Calendar, and her Woof bookings appear beside her own events. Leave her permission at "see", not "make changes": edits made in Google are replaced at the next sync.
What the event shows
Pick one under What the event shows:
- Pet and service (recommended): "Rex · Full groom".
- Pet, client and service: "Rex (Jane D.) · Full groom".
- Busy only: just "Busy", for a calendar other people can see.
Whichever you pick, phone numbers, addresses, notes, vaccines and prices never go to Google. Each event has a link that opens that day in Woof, plus the store's address (or the client's address for a mobile visit).
Turn a groomer off, or disconnect
- Switch a groomer off and Woof deletes that groomer's Woof calendar from Google. Switch them back on and it is made again.
- Disconnect removes Woof's access to the Google account. By default it also deletes the Woof calendars; tick Keep the Woof calendars to leave them in Google (they stop updating).
If syncing stops
If Woof's access is removed in Google (from your Google account's security page, or by changing your password), Calendar Sync shows Calendar sync stopped. Click Reconnect and sign in again. Woof fills in everything it missed; nothing is lost.
Good to know
- It is one way. Woof never reads your own Google events, so a personal appointment in Google does not block online booking.
- Google's own reminders are off on Woof events, so a groomer is not buzzed for every dog.
- Apple Calendar and Outlook can show a Google calendar too: add the Google account to them.
