How do I add a pet to an existing client?
Open the client in Woof, click + Add Pet, fill in the name and breed, and save. Every pet lives on its owner's family profile with its own record.
A client can have as many pets as they bring you. Each pet gets its own record on the family profile, with its own breed, size, vaccinations, notes and history, so a second dog never shares the first one's file.
Steps
- Open the client's profile
- Click + Add Pet
- Type the pet's name
- Start typing the breed and pick it from the list
- Pick the size Size sets the price of every service priced by size, so a pet without one books without a price. You set the bands and their weights under Settings › Profile Fields.
- Click Add Pet
- Click Save
- Done. Olive is on the client's profile
What you need
Only a name and a breed are required. Start typing the breed and pick it from the list; if it is not there, the list offers to add it as a new breed for your store.
Your store may mark other fields as required (for example a colour or a date of birth). Those show a red asterisk on the form, and Save waits until they are filled. You choose which fields are required under Settings › Profile fields.
Adding more than one pet at a time
After you click Add Pet, the form clears and the pet joins the list above it. Fill in the next pet and click Add Pet again. The Save button counts them ("Save (2 pets)") and creates them all at once.
After saving
The pet appears on the client's profile straight away, with its own tab next to the family tab. The success screen offers to book its first appointment, or to open the pet's page to add a photo and vaccination records. Add Another Pet starts a fresh pet for the same client.
Adding a pet never invites the client to the portal. If they don't have portal access yet, the success screen offers Send Portal Invite, so the invite goes out only when you choose it.

- Can I add a pet while booking? Yes. In the booking wizard, the pet step has an "Add pet" option that opens this same form for the selected client.
- The client is new too. Use Add a client instead; the same form takes the owner first and their pets second.
