How do I choose what information I collect about clients and pets?
Settings › Profile Fields in Woof decides what your client and pet forms ask, which answers are required, what clients fill in themselves, the species you accept, your breed list, your size bands and the vaccines you require.
One page shapes every form: the add and edit forms your staff use, the intake your online clients fill in, and the validation on the free import.
Customer and pet fields
Always collected fields (name, email, phone; pet name, species, breed, size, spayed/neutered) cannot be turned off. Below them, each configurable field has three switches:
- Required or Optional: Save waits for a required field.
- Staff only: shown to your team, never asked of clients online.
- Enable / Disable: a disabled field is not collected anywhere and shows greyed out until you re-enable it.
Add custom field creates something specific to your business (a short text, a date, a yes/no, or a multiple choice list) for clients or pets. Its answers live on each record and appear on the profile under Custom fields.
A field marked Mixed has different settings for the parts Woof combines (address, emergency contact); choose one setting here and it applies to all of them.
Species, breeds and sizes
- Species: enable the ones you accept. New stores start dog-only; enabling Cats loads the common cat breeds and shows cat-only services and vaccines.
- Breeds: every standard breed is pre-loaded per species. Add your own; a staff member typing an unknown breed on a form is offered the same choice.
- Size: your size bands by weight (Small 0-15 lbs and so on). These are the columns of the price matrix and the size a groomer confirms at check-in, so set them before pricing.
Health requirements
Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella are built in; add custom vaccines or preventative treatments (flea and tick, for example). Per species, mark each Required or Optional. Required ones drive the vaccination status on the profile, the reminders, and the online-booking check.
Saving
Toggles on the fields batch under Save; enable/disable, species and breed changes apply immediately.
