Setup

How do I set up Woof?

The setup checklist in Woof lives inside Ask Woof, behind the paw print at the top of every page. It walks you through your first day one step at a time, then lays out the rest of setup in six chapters, and most rows tick themselves when the work is done.

When you sign up, Woof asks one question: are you on your own, or a salon with a team? After that, the setup checklist lives inside Ask Woof: tap the paw print at the top of any page. The paw print wears a ring that fills as you go. Today also shows the current step and your chapters in a card at the top. The checklist stays until you dismiss it, and you can reopen it any time from Help & Support or Settings.

The same panel searches help articles and the menu as you type, for free, and can answer questions. Searching and every link in it are free. Asking Woof uses your monthly questions.

Most rows are derived: they tick themselves when the work exists (a service with a price, a booking, a checked-in pet). A few are things only you can confirm, and you tick those yourself. Opening a chapter never ticks anything.

Run your first day

The card at the top of the panel (and of Today) shows one step at a time, with Step N of 5:

  1. Add your first client. Importing a list counts too.
  2. Book an appointment. Rex, our sample dog, is standing by.
  3. Check the pet in. Checking in opens the ticket you close at pickup.
  4. Check out and close the ticket. The invoice uses your own tax rate.
  5. See where your numbers live. One tap opens Insights.

Steps you have already done are skipped. If you imported your clients, the card opens on step 2. When all five are done, the card waits for your first real client booking, which ticks itself the moment it happens.

The six chapters

Below the card, setup is grouped into chapters. Each one shows how much of it is done, and tapping it opens its rows right there. A finished chapter gets a green ring. On Today, the chapters sit in a strip under the card, and tapping one opens the panel on that chapter.

  • Your business: name, address, phone, business hours, tax rate, logo. Hours and tax have a Use recommended button that applies sensible defaults you can change later. Website, timezone and currency sit under More options.
  • Your services: services and prices (with Use recommended for starter prices), weekly schedules, days off and closures.
  • Your clients: bring your clients over with the free import, a client waiver (start from our template), then your own waiver terms.
  • Online booking: your booking settings, trying the booking page the way a client would, and putting your booking link where clients will see it.
  • Your team (salons only): invite your groomers. They need accounts before they get schedules.
  • Grow: auto-messages (already on; adjust them), a look at the reminder your clients get, a report card, review links and your notifications.

Every row shows where the feature lives in the menu, so you learn your way around as you go.

Hiding the checklist

Click I'm live already, hide this guide at the bottom of the checklist, or Done after the first-booking celebration. Nothing hides it automatically. That is your call. Ask Woof stays after the checklist is gone; only the setup home and the ring go.
