How do I take a deposit when a client books online?

Both settings need Woof Pay (Set up card payments); until it is ready they are saved but do nothing.

Steps

1. Open Settings › Payment Policies.
2. Card on File: switch on Require card on file to make every online booking save a card before it is placed. The card is stored securely by the card processor; Woof never sees the number.
3. Deposit: choose No deposit, First-time bookings only, or All bookings, and set the Deposit amount. A fixed amount is charged; a percentage is shown to the client as an estimate but not charged online yet.
4. Save. The Online Booking settings tab shows the result under Payment Options.

What the client sees

On the confirm step of the booking flow: the deposit due today (if any), and a card form. A client with a card on file from a previous visit is not asked again.

When the deposit is charged

• Store confirms bookings instantly: the deposit is charged the moment they book. If the card declines, the booking is not placed.
• Store reviews booking requests first: the card is saved at booking, and nothing is charged until you approve. (Charging at approval is not built yet, so approve, then collect the deposit at the visit.)

If the client cancels from their portal, the deposit is refunded in full. Applying the deposit to the final invoice automatically is not built yet; it shows in your payments dashboard, and you reduce the invoice by the deposit at checkout.

Staff bookings

None of this applies when staff book from the calendar. Deposits and card requirements are for clients booking online.
