How do I take card payments in Woof?
Woof Pay is how Woof charges cards: at the counter, on pay links, for deposits and cards on file. Set it up once from Settings › Woof Pay, where the status card tells you where you are, and if the page says it is not available yet, click Ask to turn on Woof Pay.
Woof Pay turns on every card feature in Woof at once: card tiles in the payment window, card on file, pay-by-link invoices, and deposits or card holds at online booking. Payouts go to your bank account.
Steps
- Open Settings › Woof Pay. The status card reads Not set up.
- Click Set up Woof Pay. A secure onboarding page opens in a new tab and asks for your business details, the owner's identity and the bank account for payouts. It is the same process every card processor requires; it takes a few minutes.
- Come back to Woof and click Refresh status (it also refreshes on its own when you return to the tab). The card moves to Onboarding started if the processor still needs something from you, with a button to resume, and to Ready to accept cards once you are approved.
What changes when it is ready
- The payment window gains Card · Woof Pay and, for clients who saved one, Card on file.
- Email Invoice links let clients pay online.
- The deposit and card-on-file rules under Settings › Payment Policies start applying to online bookings.
- Clients can save a card in their portal.
Rules about cards
Deposits, card on file, no-show fees and the cancellation window are not on this page. They live under Settings › Payment Policies, and only take effect once Woof Pay is ready.
Other ways you get paid
Cash, debit, cheque, e-transfer and any card terminal you already own are recorded as payment methods under Settings › Payments; they do not need Woof Pay. Woof Pay is for the cards Woof itself charges.
If the page says Woof Pay is not available yet
Some accounts see "Woof Pay isn't available on your account yet" instead of the setup button. That means card processing has not been switched on for your account yet.
Click Ask to turn on Woof Pay and we get the request straight away. The page then shows the date you asked, and we email you once it is on. Clicking again is fine if you have not heard back, it just refreshes the date rather than sending a second request.
Everything else on the page, and every non-card payment method, works in the meantime.
Thanks for letting us know.
