How do I create a coupon code or give a discount?
Coupon codes live under Settings › Coupon Codes in Woof: a code, a discount, optional dates, minimum spend, usage limits and the services it applies to. A one-off discount goes straight on the invoice with + Add a discount.
Two different things: a coupon is a code a client presents; a discount is a reduction you apply to one invoice on the spot.
Coupon codes
- Open Settings › Coupon Codes and click Create Coupon.
- Enter the code clients will use (WELCOME20), an internal description, and the discount: a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Validity period: a start date and an end date, or no expiry. Usage rules: a minimum spend, a total usage limit, and a per-customer limit. Applicable services: leave all unticked for any service.
- Save. The list shows each coupon's status (Active, Inactive, Expired, Exhausted) and how many times it has been used.
Redemptions are counted when an invoice carrying the code is closed. The invoice does not yet check a code's dates, usage limits, minimum spend or services for you, or apply its discount: enter the amount yourself, and check the coupon here first if it has limits. The welcome, birthday and rebook automations can each attach a coupon of yours to their message.
Where a client uses a code
At the counter: tell your staff the code and they apply it as the invoice discount with the code as its reason. In the client's portal shop, a code field applies it at checkout. Applying a code to an online booking is not built yet.
A one-off discount
On the invoice editor, + Add a discount (in the totals, and beside the amount due) takes one discount off the whole invoice. Type an amount, or type a number and tap %: the editor shows what it comes to as you type (10% of CA$75.00 reads "= CA$7.50 off"), and that dollar amount is what is saved. Give it a reason, and when the client has a coupon, tap the code under Your codes instead of typing it: the code goes in as the reason, and the redemption is counted when the invoice closes. A discount cannot be more than the invoice subtotal. Tax is worked out on the discounted amount.
Discounts on a single line are no longer added here. An invoice that already has one keeps it, with a Remove beside it. Insights › Discounts & Promos totals what discounting cost you, by code and by reason.
