How do I change the tax on my invoices?
Settings › Invoice & Tax in Woof holds your tax rate (and an optional second one), your tax registration number, whether prices include tax, and the invoice number prefix and next number. Which items are taxed comes from each service or product's own taxable flag.
Business Setup asks for one tax rate to get you going; this page is the full version.
Tax
- Tax Name and Rate: your main tax, applied to every taxable line on every invoice ("HST 13%"). Quick Setup fills the rate for your province, state or country.
- Add a second tax line when you charge two (GST + PST, for example). Each is shown separately on the invoice.
- Tax ID / Registration #: printed on invoices and receipts.
- Tax-inclusive pricing: on, the prices you enter already include tax and the invoice shows the tax portion; off, tax is added on top.
Which items are taxed comes from the item: retail products and services carry their own taxable flag. If your store already has different rates for services and retail, the page warns you and links to the advanced editor rather than overwriting them.
Invoice numbers
Every invoice gets the next number in your store's sequence, printed on the receipt and shown on the invoices list, the pay page and in search. Numbers are never reused.
- Invoice Number Prefix: blank by default, so a migrated store's numbers match the receipts it already handed out. Enter "INV-" to show INV-1042.
- Next Invoice Number: set it once, before your first invoice, if you want to start at 1001 rather than 1. It must be higher than the last number issued.
Search accepts what is printed: "1042", "#1042" and "INV-1042" all find the same invoice.
What prints on the invoice
- Legal Business Name: on by default the same as your business profile; turn it off to print a registered company name instead.
- Additional Line: under your business name ("A division of Happy Paws Holdings").
- Default Notes: at the bottom of every invoice ("Thank you for your business!").
The preview on the right updates as you type. Save applies everything to new invoices; existing invoices are untouched.
