Can I keep using Square with Woof?
Yes, keep your Square reader and add it in Woof as a payment method under Settings › Payments: at checkout Woof works out the total, you run it on your reader, and Woof records the payment. To move your clients, export your customer list from Square and email it to support@woof.net.
Welcome to Woof! You don't have to give up your Square reader to switch. Keep taking cards on it, and let Woof run your bookings, clients and invoices.
Keep your Square reader
- Open Settings › Payments and add a payment method called Card (Square). It saves straight away.
- At checkout, Woof works out the total. Run that amount on your Square reader as usual.
- In the payment window, pick the Card (Square) tile, enter the tip if there was one, and close the invoice.
Your Square takings show under that name on Daily Close and in your reports, next to cash and everything else. Woof doesn't connect to Square: the card is charged on your reader and your money comes from Square as it does today. Woof keeps the record.
Step 1: Export your customers from Square
- In your Square Dashboard, go to Customers › Directory.
- Choose Import/Export, then Export Customers, and pick All Customers.
- Download the file.
- Want your upcoming appointments to come over too? In Square Appointments, open the appointment History and use Export. Square leaves repeating appointments out of that file, so tell us about any regulars on a repeat.
Square's steps can change. Their help center is the authority (checked 2026-11-02).
Step 2: Send it to us, and we'll do the rest
Email your files to support@woof.net, or send us a Google Drive or Dropbox link. You can also upload them from Clients › Import Customers & Pets with Request Assisted Import (up to 25 MB per file; choose Other as the source and mention Square). We move your clients, their notes and your upcoming appointments. If you kept pet names in Square's notes or custom fields, they come along too; if not, you add pets as clients come in.
When you want more: Woof Pay
Some things need the card charged through Woof itself: a card on file, deposits when clients book online, and invoices clients pay online. Those come with Woof Pay. There's no rush: turn it on whenever you're ready, and keep your Square reader as a payment method for as long as you like.
After the move
A few things are yours to choose: your services, prices and lengths (prices are never imported), your online booking link, and your reminders. The setup checklist behind the paw print walks you through each one.
Thanks for letting us know.
